We've been getting one storm after another since early Sunday morning and more is on the way.  It's been several years since we've had so much snow.

I just had to show Lou and KYDave how some of the rest of us live in wintertime Wink

This collection kind of started by accident.  My daughter brought the blue plate home from Spain and then when we were in Mexico I saw the Talavera pottery and dinnerware.  I would love to have a whole set of those - but WOW would that be expensive.  So, that's how it started.

My husband says he will bring back one from Africa next time he goes - he didn't have a chance to look for one last time.

I started collecting fabrics a few years ago.  I love the fat quarters because that allows you to have a large variety of lots of different fabrics in a wide assortment of colors and designs.  A problem fat quarters present is that it forces you to make more of the scrappy type quilts rather than ones that only use a few different fabrics.  I told myself about a year ago that I needed to use up some of my stash before I could buy anymore - and I've been pretty good about sticking to that....... except when I really NEED a piece of fabric to finish a project.

I am collecting pictures of most of the quilts I have made and will post those some other time.  Some have been given away and I didn't get pictures.

I was driving home from the office today thinking about the pot luck dinner we were hosting tonight when the thought struck me "Egads!  I don't have any centerpieces!"  Actually, I'm not a "have to have a centerpiece" kind of person, but I thought they would be nice.  So, as soon as I got home, I grabbed my clippers and started roaming around the yard to see what I could find.

The centerpieces include:  Autumn Joy Sedum, Euphorbia myrsinites, asters - two different colors, peony foliage and gooseberry bush foliage.  I am pleased with how they turned out Big Grin

Our fourth grandchild is due any day now.  I actually got his/her quilt finished BEFORE the arrival.

The blue, yellow and pink borders are made from a silky soft polyester fabric called "minky".  The green is a cotton chenille fabric.  All of the rest is in flannel.  The backing is a yellow flannel with green and purple stars.

Most everyone thinks the baby is going to be a boy, but I think it's going to be a girl, thus the thin border in pink.

Sophie loves the quilt and wanted to help me finish it.  Unfortunately, I had to keep moving her in order to move the quilt around.  AND, I didn't want it coated with her black hair!

I had a play date with Wyatt today.  Papa, mommy, big sister and big brother went to Riverfront Park, out to lunch and then to Auntie Lish's place to go swimming.  Wyatt and I have had a nice relaxing day at home.  I had all these plans of getting lots of sewing done on a baby quilt I started the other day, but instead we've been rocking, holding, talking, feeding, taking pictures, napping and having a nice bonding time.  I can sew any old time Roll Eyes

Uh-oh!  What's that smell??  On to the next activity of the day....................

Oh, and Wyatt will be one month old tomorrow.

We have a new member in our family today.  Wyatt James was born this morning at 3:13 a.m. and weighed in at 8 lbs and 4 oz's.  AND I forgot to ask how long he is Roll Eyes

We didn't get to see Wyatt until this afternoon because we have Callista and Trevor (big brother and sister) with us and Wyatt's oxygen levels were a little low.  They are keeping him in the nursery while monitoring a couple of things, but they say it's just precautionary and his heart and lungs and everything look strong and healthy.

So, grandma hasn't gotten to hold him yet Frowner  but there will be plenty of time for that later.  Mom is doing fine, but very tired.

what plant this is??

Does anybody really care?  I've got Chicago on my mind now

Roll Eyes
Does this look familiar to anyone?  I thought maybe some of you knowledgable plant people out there might have an idea what this could be.
I could take a cutting from it to one of the nursery's to see if they could identify it, but haven't gotten around to doing that.
